Bamboo Fun

I recently bought my Bamboo Pen Tablet. It's the small model and after trying it out, I believe I've made the right choice. The size is just right for me since I like to sketch a lot so it works out.

And here is one of the creations I made with my new Bamboo. It is of the Japanese Model Sayaka Yamaguchi. I found this lovely woman when I did a random image search on google for Asian Female. And for some reason I can not seem to find the picture again. But what I did was I open the picture in Photoshop and just started to do a sketch of her. After sometime I tried to some various techniques for shading like Cross-hatching, Opacity Fills and various others. I then tried just doing a simple stroke for shading and I ended up liking how it turned out. So I went and try to do a portrait of her using that simple stroke. I was using a 3 point brush with Smooth and Wet Edges turn on. For the majority of the picture, I turn on Opacity Jitter to 30%. That is how i got the look.

T-Shirt Stuff

Here are just a few samples of my T-Shirt designs. Some of these arent exactly finish. I am still waiting for a Tablet so that I can do more detailed work, like for the dragon on the black shirt. I want to add more detail to it. Obviously there are more stuff but, it will take up too much space in this little post. Maybe I will just upload the designs, fit it in to one piece like this.

New start...

Well, my sister and I just started a little business. A little design shop, selling various art stuff from T-Shirts, pillow cases, paintings and various other things designed by her and I.

Here's also a little update on some drawings. One is a little self-portrait sketch that I decided to use as an avatar, maybe I'll try to use a more caricature like a approach on the next self-portrait sketch. The other is a little thing I drew way back in February around Valentines Day and the last one is just an update.

Here are some Dungeons and Dragons inspired artwork. Recently saw the movie Dungeons and Dragons, the movie where Snails is Marlyon Wayans...yeah, that one. The first one is my little interpretation of Snails and the second one is my little own Gladiator, which is somewhat inspired by Damodar.

Finish my Txivneeb drawing...not that great. I plan on working it in Photoshop.
My Anime drawing isnt finish yet, cant decide on a BG.
Heres some thumbnails of the Wedding Invitation, John and Louna, pick and choose one, Ill be working on some more thumbnails too so look forward to some more. Also, do you guys want a 1 page Wedding Invitation or a folded Invitation? In my thumbnails, I started with a 1 page layout, then I went into a folded layout then into a more complex middle spread layout. Of course printing the ladder layouts will not be done on a regular printer...it would have to be at a printing store like Kinkos. Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Here are some of my recent sketches. I've been trying to render the human figure from memory lately and I know that I still need work. I'll take a look at my Andrew Loomis books to understand how to render it a bit better.

I've come up with a story for my short animation film but I'll try to come up with some more stories. I did some very rough storyboard like drawings already just so that I won't forget. I am gonna try and play with lines and shapes for my film.

This is are some pages from my sketchbook. I just finished it this afternoon at Paradise Point. There were lots of people today, I was sitting at a bench and I gave it up for some people who had a large party. I sat on the benched bonfire area. There was no shade so I think I may be feeling the sun burn tomorrow.

Heres some stuff from way back when I first went to college, or AII of Minnesota. After a good talk with my cousin and friend on MSN, I went back and checked on some of my old drawings. He wanted to see if I still have the drawing I did of him for class. So i went searching and i know i have because i never throw away any of my drawings.

The artworks are in HB pencil, Prismacolor Pencils, Rembrandt Pastels and Charcoal.

Ive been trying to play with shapes and rhythm lately...trying to be more loose and not too technical with my work. Although I like the technical and construction of art, I also need to be more loose and just capture the feeling of things. Just like Wattana and my other teachers have said to me.

Also, if you didnt know by the title of the post, time to change the clock 1 hour ahead also.

I still alive and drawing. Ive been busy with my Animation and my Audio project, well, mainly just my Animation project. I still havent decided on my Final for my Audio project just yet...I have some ideas though, just have to decided on one and make a rough for the teacher. Anyway, heres some of my sketches.

These are some some stuff from the last few days. I did the last 5 pages at the beach today. Went to Paradise Point around 12:30pm today and came home around 4pm. I could have stayed longer but it was getting quite windy, so it was getting cold. Also, a very bad thing happen while i was drawing....my Blue Woodless Pencil broke T_T I was left with a small piece to draw with....but it turned out quite well. The long end is the back part so it wasnt a good part to draw with. Time to buy some more Blue Woodless and Blue Col-Erase Pencil.

EDIT: Forgot that some people wanted to see what I use to draw. Heres are some pictures of my little Art Bin. I have some Rembrandt Pastels but I never used them ever since i moved here to San Diego. Ill try to use them in the near future :P Also from the Pictures you can see my little Blue Woodless Pencil...so sad T_T and the green one doesnt look too well also ^_^;

Heres some stuff from my day at Paradise Point today. After a brief walk around Paradise Point to get my blood flowing, I did some sketches as warm up. The sketch didnt last long because something suddenly came into my view. There was a girl sitting on the rocks and she looked somewhat sad. I remember that she came with some other people and she was watching them playing on the shore. She looked sad and i decided to draw her. I first did some rough sketches and then on the next page, I decided to a rough Illustration. I turned out pretty well...although theres some minor error in her form....but it looks good nonetheless.

Im done with Summer Quarter this week. Heres some of my work from Matte Painting. Ill show some of my other works too but im not happy with them so... Any CnC much appreciated.

The first one is a swamp painting. the thing i dont like about that piece is the trees. i know i could have done them better but it was a rush job. the second is volcanic landscape just about to face its doom with meteors.

Also, ive notice that my paintings look WAY BETTER in small thumbnails than they do large...

Its midterm week and damn... I havent been doing my best in my classes. I have been bogged down with car problems and finding a freaking job. School interviews aint helping either since they know my schedule already. I just hope that I can at least show my best work during FINALS!! I plan on doing showing my best work this quarted so that when Portfolio reviews come up next quarter, I have can amaze my peers and teachers.

Anyway, heres some of my work from class; Background Design and Layout and Matte Painting. The last one is a WIP, Im just blocking out shapes and vaules for now.

Heres some photoshop paintings from Background Design and Layout, and Matte Painting.

The first one is from Matte Painting. Can you guess what brush i am using to paint the vase? The objective of the painting was to copy an object, which is the vase, using 1 brush and only gryascale. We had to figure out to paint the vase using various brush settings. The exercise was 15 minutes long.

The second one was from Background Design and Layout. We had to think of an environment and try to capture the atmospheric perspective. i got it down pretty good but its just that im not too good with textures quite yet. this exercise was about 30 minutes long.

I've been busy lately. Just sketching and trying to find a job. Sketching takes up quite a bit of time. Its one of my personal goal i've set up for myself. Its to finish at least 2 sketch books in 1 year and i've been keeping up with it too. I've also been trying too find a job and it is frustrating not being able to get one for the past 7 months. Anyway, hopefully this quarter goes well.

Its been too long since my last post. Busy busy with school. Learning a new program really is a pain.

Heres some illustration sketches from last year. I just took some gesture sketches from class and turn them into some characters. Some teacher who saw these drawins said I should go into fashion design... I doubt that ill go into fashion design. I have no sense of fashion at all. Any CnC much appreciated.

Launch that Blog baby

Well, with friends making blogs, I decided to make a blog too. Very unfamiliar with HTML and all that Web editing stuff, so I hope this blog thing is user-friendly. Must be because I created this blog and this post right? haha. Hopefully by next week I will be able to post some of my art work and get some CnC (Comments and Critique) from those artist with their mad art skills. CnC is always a welcome by me, it lets me know how I can improve and learn.
